Gas 🔥

These are the most recent gas fired beauties from Sophie- Lu the Workshop Mpls gas kiln. This process is different, using combustible fuel rather than electricity to gain heat in the kiln. Sophie- Lu fires hotter, and longer than our electric kilns and requires constant attention through her 12-14 hour trip to ~ 2300 F.

The surfaces are a bit richer and a have an alchemy from the firing that is unpredictable and just magic 🪄.  Most of the gas fired work Jennie produces relies on texture, impressions and surfaces to highlight the simple all over glazes often applied for these firings. A different expression of the potters brain bubbles, and often a pallet cleanser for the potter's more intricate and laborious slip layered carving work.Â
